Hi. Just walked by the gone but not forgotten Bright Food Shop in Chelsea and saw construction permits
on the door and lots of destruction of the old interior. Know anything?
We don't, but someone else might. Let us know! (Photo: Flickr)

My top four guesses:
Bank, Bank, Bank, Nail Salon

If you know the exact street address we may be able to find something out.

It's on the corner of 21st and 8th Ave.
Here's the construction permit link:

It has to be another Starbucks!

It's going to be a Qdoba Mexican Grill. I saw the architectural drawings with the name clearly on it through the window yesterday.

Qdoba has a location at 208 East 34th St. I chatted with Alex Perez, who seems to be the boss, at the site last week. He says they have already applied for a sidewalk cafe' permit. Hopes to retain the original ceiling height. Assured me they would take good care of the pin oak tree. We'll see! Hope Stuart has a good home for the "Bright Food Shop" sign!
At least it's not another bank or CVS.

Amyone know what is happening on the corner of 22nd and 8th, the old hotel? Are they converting to condos? And will there be retail on the bottom?
