One of the best things about having a blog is that people give you gifts. For example, just last week, one of our neighbors down the hall gave us a cassette tape. Yes, a cassette tape. It was a copy of former Hotel Chelsea resident Danity Adore's Country style recordings. The tape contains exactly what you would expect: Tennessee Waltz, Shortin' Bread, and Your Cheatin' Heart. You get the point. Since we're from Kentucky our neighbor probably thought we'd really love the tape. And we do! Danity Adore's quirky singing style is too good for us to keep to ourselves. Thanks to a tip from the folks at Funtone you too can enjoy Danity's unique voice. The video was recorded by Nelson Sullivan one evening at Limelight. Nelson's film about Christina, a drag queen who also lived at the Chelsea, was shown last week at the NewFest. The last we heard, Danity was living in California.
